The first of five releases of 2010, the gentlemen of 1773 emerge from the bone-chilling Chicago Winter having spent the past 5 months in full-on production mode. Featuring beatmaker talent from across the globe and a myriad of local Hip-Hop artists, their lead mixtape titled Mixed Signals Vol.1 (release date 5/28/2010) began as a single release but the overwhelming response from guest MCs necessitated two installments.
Hosted by Donwill (of Tanya Morgan), Volume 1 features include: Visual (Molemen/Community Service), Elevation (Fordafresh), Love Jones, MC Sick of Pseudo Slang (Fat Beats), Neak, Add-2, Sincerely Yours, Verbal Kent (Gravel), Phero, Itch13 (Superheroes of Sound), Cerebral Vortex (of Vertual Vertigo, MPM), Philip Morris, Awdazcate, and K-Sera. Certainly one of these names rings a bell, and if not considerthis a wakeup call!

Typically, 1773 limits guest appearances to 2-3 per release, so for Mixed Signals the fellas decided it was time to up the ante. “Chicago gets branded as ‘Haterville’ but on this release we aim to transcend any superficial boundaries created by that moniker” explains MC Just Jay. Essentially a musical experiment pulling from Chicago’s varied Hip-Hop scenes; as an end result, Mixed Signals Vol.1 is more than a mixtape but rather an all-city showcase.

1773 team up with an all star cast of Chicago’s finest Hip-Hop talents on the song “Pyramid“, the 2nd leak track from their upcoming mixtape titled Mixed Signals Vol.1 (release date 5/28/2010). Featuring guest MCs Neak, Add-2, & Sincerely Yours. Production by the Chicago duo Sound Prophets.
1773: It’s hard not to smile at something so authentic and genuine. Particles of Chicago sentiment, youth, and modern chivalry fuse and concentrate in their music, their lyricism, their performance.
On their first full length release for 2010 titled Sound Soulstice (produced entirely by Australian producer ARKiV) 1773 has brought together a string of banging instrumental beats. The first of which is the lead single “The Goodness“. On wax, this track features Michigan MC Othello but on video we’ve got a two-fer for you! Ezekiel38 (of Vertual Vertigo) drops in during the last act to drop his verse from 1773’s song “So Clear” (the 2nd single from Sound Soulstice).

1773′s talent exudes in the studio and on stage. Their performance stands louder nowhere else than within the arenas of charisma and great sound replication. The members of 1773 are disciples of music, Chicago and her cultural stock. Through the sweltering thick of this city’s talent, emerged a group that calls upon the cadences of hip-hop’s truest and congruent times…
On their first full length release for 2010 titled Sound Soulstice, produced entirely by Australian producer ARKiV, Sound Soulstice will be 1773’s third project on River City Music Entertainment. The lead single “The Goodness” finds Just Jay, Wisdm O.N.E. alongside special guest, and long-time 1773 collaborator Othellospitting over a Dilla-esque banger laced with an all too obscure Bobby Lylesample.
In celebration of the legendary soul singer Bill Withers‘ new documentary Still Bill, 1773 is leaking their remix of Wither’s song “Make A Smile” from their upcoming mixtape Mixed Signals Vol.1 (release date 5/28/2010, hosted by Donwill of Tanya Morgan). This remix was originally released as a re-edit by Austrian beatmaker Trishes and here you’ll find 1773 meshing naturally with Wither’s heartfelt sentiment and Trishes boom-bap arrangements.
As collectors of sight and sound, 1773 has brought together a string of instrumental beats on their first full length release for 2010 titled Sound Soulstice. Produced entirely by Australian producer ARKiV, Sound Soulstice will be 1773’s third project on River City Music Entertainment (Japan). Release date 6/2/2010. Songstress Natalie Oliveri, and MCs Othello (of Lightheaded) & Ezekiel38 (Vertual Vertigo) all lend their palettes to the album’s sonic portrait…
